ABOUT THE THEATRE COMPANY
The Theatre Company was formed in 1977, and since that beginning has become a driving force for quality live theater in the Harrison area. The Theatre Company was involved in the development of the Ozark Arts Council, with several Theatre Company members on the original (1996) O.A.C. board. The Theatre Company produces from four to eight plays per year in the Lyric, from elaborate musicals to dramas and comedies.
The Theatre Company also works closely with the other arts organizations in the Ozark Arts Council. They have collaborated with North Arkansas College Drama Department on a production, and have had Harrison Art League members, who are also involved in theater, help with set design and decoration. Theatre Company volunteers staff the concessions and box office at the Lyric for Theatre Company productions and other O.A.C. member organizations events.
The Theatre Company is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, with a governing board of seven members who meet monthly. The general membership of the Theatre Company meets twice a year, once in September to select the plays for the next season, and again in January to elect officers and board members.
Membership to the Theatre Company, which gives voting rights, is $5 per year. The Theatre Company is committed to the growth and expansion of the Ozark Arts Council. The Theatre Company is also committed to promoting the Arts in our area, and particularly committed to extending to people, of all ages and abilities, the opportunity to express themselves in the theater arts. Many former Theatre Company actors have made a career in the theater, after getting a taste of live theater on the Lyric stage.
