The Theatre Company and the Ozark Arts Council are proud to present Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol on the stage of the historic Lyric Theater. Adapted by Michael Paller from the classic tale by Charles Dickens. Presented by permission from Samuel French, Inc.
This fresh approach to the classic tale faithfully conveys the magic of Dickens. On Christmas Eve, 1843, friends and family gathered at Dickens' home ask him to tell a story, but he refuses to work on Christmas Eve. He says that if there is going to be a story, each must take a part in its telling. And so the tale unfolds with the cast of ten playing over 40 parts.
Ann Graffy is directing the production. She most recently directed the highly successful dinner theater production of The Importance of Being Earnest at Twelve Oaks.
"This is a fabulous cast, and a joy to work with," said Graffy. "From young to old, we are creating magic on the Lyric stage."
Cast in the pivotal role of Charles Dickens is Ken Bailey, Theatre Company veteran, who recently served as master of ceremonies at the Lyric's 80th Birthday party. Playing his wife, Catherine, is Denise Fleming, recently seen in the dinner theater production of The Importance of Being Earnest.
Other in the cast include Jacob Norris (Dickens' self as a child), Rob Thomason (Mark Lemon, Editor of Punch), Cameron Carlton (Dickens' younger brother Frederick), Mike Loggains (Clarkson Stanfield, a painter), Mark Baker (Dickens' son Charley), Abigail Horton (Helen Hogarth, Dickens' niece), Julianna Stefanski (Stanfield's wife), and Darrell Whorton (John Forster, Dickens' closest friend and advisor).
Tickets are available online at www.ozarkartscouncil.org, by calling 870.391.3504, or at the OAC office next to the Lyric Theater on the Square. The Box Office will open one hour prior to each performance.
